The Armour Institute
Who We Are
The rule of engagement for understanding the difference between a Seminary and a Divinity School in its simplest terms is this: A Seminary is most often connected to a denomination, e.g., Princeton Theological Seminary and its connection to the Presbyterian Church. While a Divinity School is analogous to a larger University, e.g., Duke Divinity School and Duke University.
The Armour Institute is a private research institution and graduate professional school for the academic study of theology.
While we pride ourselves on preparing expositors of the Gospel for licensure, ordination, and the episcopacy as members of the clergy, we are especially focused on preparing scholars to be “polymathic theological academicians.”
The Mission of The Armour Institute is to engage in spiritual discipline and an academically rigorous education in service and witness to God, to the academy, and the world. We strive to cultivate an erudite community through a challenging theological curriculum, in strict adherence to the Holy Writ, and with attention to and reflection on context, in an effort to form and prepare leaders for the kingdom of God.
As an axis mundi of theological study for those who truly aspire to an academically challenging post-graduate experience, The Armour Institute is the embodiment of its motto: Eruditio et Veritas – Erudition and Truth. Founded in 2022, The Armour Institute seeks to attract student scholars from across the nation and around the world. With many diverse theological perspectives represented here, future scholars will find common ground through immersion in Scripture and the charge of addressing the challenges of faith in contemporary contexts. “See you in class…”
