The Armour Institute
Unlocking the Scriptures
The Bible is the best-selling, most read, most beloved, most criticized, most neglected, and most antagonized book in human history. It’s also the most misunderstood and misinterpreted, especially by those who claim to be the most proficient in its laws, precepts, ordinances, and teachings.
So, what exactly is it? Who wrote it? How did those writings come together in what we now call “The Bible?” Most of all, how do we propose to know what it says?
One of the discoveries I’ve made in theological pedagogy is the anxiety people have about the study of the Bible. There is not only a reverential fear, which can be healthy, but some really get the shakes. Combine that with someone who’s been exposed to an emerging theology that triggers a desire for deeper understanding, and they suddenly discover that so much of what they comprehended from reading the word, was spectacularly in error, and you have a situation that can invoke a spirit of apostasy.
God loves you, through this love He appeals to us as the highest authority to take action to know Him as best we can. The devotion of time to acquiring that knowledge of Him is the clarion call of our lives. The problem is, we fear it.
The Armour Institute has developed a course entitled, “Unlocking the Bible”. It is a 6-week walk through the scripture with attention to unlocking mysteries, dispelling myths, and eradicating error. The goal is greater comprehension through exposure to tools and methodologies of study.
